Picollo F28075 Microcontroller(TMS320F28075PTPT-Piccolo)-Availability

We have a project requirement based on grid tie inverters which needs Picollo F28075 Microcontroller,so we need Picollo F28075 Experimenter's Kit.

Is the Picollo Microcontroller F28075 (TMS320F28075PTPT-Piccolo) still in the market?(As we are unable to find distributors stock)

If not Which is the alternative Floating point controller which has similar features as Picollo F28075 Microcontroller.

  • Hello Gautam,

    Thank you for the reply.

They have said the production will start at the end of 2015.

    Any latest updates on that?

  • Sanath and Gautam,

As you mentioned the F28075 is in production status as of end of 2015.  We are seeing very strong demand for this device and that is what is causing you to see it "not in stock" from your distributor.  We are working closely with our manufacturing team to get inventory back in the channel as soon as possible.  With that said I have a few suggestions depending on the stage of a project:

If you are in development(sampling/trial runs/etc):

If the package variant of the device is not in stock, I would look at the same package in either the F2837xS or F2837xD device.  These are pin/pin compatible and are supersets of the F28075 in either the 100 or 176 pin packages.  The same holds true for any temperature code, if you are evaluating you could use either T(105C) or S(125C) grade devices for nominal eval with no effect to get silicon in your hands

If you are in production/planned production:

I advise to place your orders with your distributor now with your needed delivery date, so that that it can be fed back to TI and get "on the books".  We build not only to stock distributors with "X" quantities but also to fulfill orders.  The more clarity we have on placed orders from our customers(even if they are out in time) the better we can manage our inventories and device mixes to meet the market demand.

Please let me know if you have more questions.

    Best regards,
    Matthew Pate
