Minimum Hardware Requirements for Flashing F28069M

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UNIFLASH

Hi guys,

I'm a Hardware designer, and during couple of months ago I was working on LaunchpadXL_F28069M, and now I'm going to develop my own platform using F28069M micro controller. I could flash the F28069M on the launchpad through it's J-Tag connection using UniFlash software, but now I want to minimize my hardware for my new platform. I mean I want to know what is the minimum hardware requirement that I will be able to Flash the F28069M micro controller? I hope there would be no necessity to use whole the J-Tag circuit which has been used in the launchpad, Thanks in advance.

  • Milad,

All you need is a JTAG connector connected to the MCU , as shown in Fig 5-3 of SPRS698F.  Of course, you need an emulator like XDS100v2 to connect to your board.

  • Thank you Sir, I want you kindly verify the figure you are referring is the following?

because I was thinking to use FT2232H as the J-tage Emulator and serial communicator, but I want to minimize the size of my PCB, so what I need to know now is there any J-tag programmer module for F28069M, such that I can connect it to my PCB presuming that I'll make something like figure 5-3 ( above) ?

  • Yes, that was the figure I was referring to. As mentioned in my previous post, you need an emulator like XDS100v2 to enable communication between your PC and your board. Other then the emulator, you don't need any special hardware on your board. The datasheet arrangement is good enough.
