TMS320F28027: TMS320F28234PGFA TMS320F28027DAT

Part Number: TMS320F28027
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS75005, LP5912

Hi all,

My customer started to design new Power conditioner model.

Old model he used TMS320F28234PGFA and TMS320F28027DAT.

And for Vcc LDO is TPS75005 (NRND).

So he requested me new LDO P/N which C2000 team recommended.

Because he want to use one TMS320F28234PGFA and three TMS320F28027DATs. (Potenza 100p does not in time)

This LDO range, ROHM is cheaper.

So I want to recommend  TLV73333PDBVR.

How about ?

Thank you,

  • Hiroshi,

Can you clarify on the requirements?  Is it one LDO to power four devices?  Will VREG be enabled on the F28027s?

  • Tommy-san,

    Four TLV73333PDBVRs to each C2000 ( TMS320F28234PGFA x1, TMS320F28027DATx3 ).

In this case, is EN control by C2000 necessary?

  • Hiroshi-san,

One TLV73333PDBVR per F28027 device (with internal 1.8V VREG enabled) should be fine.  The TLV73 EN signal can be tied to the source supply voltage unless there is a requirement to power-down individual devices.  Note that the F28027 internal VDDIO BOR trip voltage may be less than the recommended VDDIO Min voltage.  An external SVS device can be used for the 3.3V supply if there are safety and reliability concerns.

The F28235 does not have an internal VREG and has more strict power sequencing and XRS requirements.  It may be a good idea to use one of the recommended power management devices from the datasheet.  It looks like TPS70202 is still an active device.

  • Tommy-san,

My customer's END customer requested two CANs.

If there are many period, they can convert to F2803x.

But Sample for END  limit is end of next March.

So my customer decided to use three F28235 and one F2802x.

And he requested me, what is best LDO and SV choice ? show me.

    I want your best selection.

    Thank you,

  • Hiroshi-san,

I can recommend some devices that I think would work well, but the customer would ultimately need to determine which solution is best for their system because of all of the trade-off features (ex: cost, size, efficiency, ease-of-use, operating range, qualification ratings, etc).

For the F28235, I would consider TPS70202 because it is recommended in the datasheet and it appears to be similar to TPS75005, which the customer used previously.

For the F2802x, I would consider LP5912 with fixed 3.3V output because it is easy to use with an integrated PG supervisor.

WEBENCH can also provide power solutions based on user inputs, but be aware that it may not include support for all available devices.
