CCS/TMS320F28035: SYSCLOCK Settings

Part Number: TMS320F28035

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hello!

I'm confused how SYSCLOCK is generated if you use an external crystal oscillator. Could anyone point me in the right direction to get more information on this?

  • Christian,

Please see page 64 in the data sheet:

    www.ti.com/lit/SPRS584

and see chapter 3 in the TMS320F2803x Piccolo System Control and Interrupts Reference Guide:

    www.ti.com/lit/SPRUGL8

Also, you might find the F2803x Workshop useful, too:

  • Hey Ken,

Thanks for the reply. I've gone through the pdfs and I'm unsure of the maximum (safe) operating frequency for the SYSCLOCK, 60Mhz seems to be the recommended operating frequency but is it safe to operate above that? If so how much more above the 60Mhz mark? I wasn't able to see any other data that details the effects of running in such a range.

    Thanks,

    Christian

  • Christian,

The maximum operating frequency, as well as other specifications, can be found in the device data sheet. For the F28035 please see:

    www.ti.com/lit/SPRS584

In section 5.4 you will see the operating range is from 2 MHz to 60 MHz. This is the recommended operating conditions for which the device has been tested and for what we can guarantee such that the device will meet all of the specifications in the data sheet.

I hope this helps. If this answers your question, please click the green "Verified Answer" button. Thanks.
