SPICHAR is set at initials
Is it possible to change only SPICHAR other than that?
(For example within a task process)

Yes, you should be able to change SPICHAR length. But, you have to hold SPI in reset before you change SPICHAR and re-enabling SPI from reset.

Note: You also have to make sure slave SPICHAR length also gets updated similarly.
