TMS320F280049: There is no internal oscillator compensation?

Part Number: TMS320F280049
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320F28035

Hi,

In F2803X, F2806X, we have internal oscillator compensation. But I can't see such information in F2807X, F2837X, F28004X device.

1. There is no internal oscillator compensation for F2807X, F2837X, F28004X, right?

2. What's the accuracy after compensation for F2803X? There is no such data in the latest datasheet below.

  • Hi Howard,

    Please see my response below:

1.) The F2807X, F2837X and F28004X parts do not require compensation as the trimming during factory testing takes care of this.  This internal oscillator frequency is typically less than +/-1% from target across voltage/temperature.

2.) For the F2803X parts, the internal oscillator frequency is within +/-1 to 1.5% from target after performing the compensation functions.

    Best regards,

    Joseph

  • Joseph,
    thank you.
In F28004x datasheet, we only said that we can achieve +-3% accuracy. I wonder why don't we point out that we can achieve +-1%?
In F2803x datasheet, I don't see your number either. Can we commit to the customer +-1 to 1.5%?
  • Hi Howard,

Sorry for my late response. The compensation function for the internal oscillator in F2803x and trimming in F28004x do not account for the ageing of the components used in the internal oscillator. The numbers we put in the datasheet specify the accuracy of the internal oscillator over the lifetime of the device, which does factor in the shift in the oscillator frequency due to component ageing.

    Best regards,
    Joseph
