CCS/LAUNCHXL-F28379D: what is WAIT BOOT mode ?

Hello guys,

I run a program on LAUNCHXL-F28379D flash and now i think it's stuck in WAIT MODE i guess..!. where no other program runs either on flash or when emulator is connected.

I have noticed that some of the LEDs are ON and the Reset button doesn't reset (i.e. when it's connected the LEDs doesn't flash "demo application " but instead are all ON).

So is this WAIT BOOT mode or something else !? please guide me to reset my board to default parameters !?

Hello Younes,

Can you share the current status of the S1 Boot switch?
Please compare your selection against the "Device Default Boot Modes for CPU1" table in http://www.ti.com/lit/spruhm8

By default, all S1 positions should be pulled to "ON" (meaning 1)

Hi Mohammed,

One thing to note is even device boot mode pins are setup for Wait BOOT, if you load the code with emulator connected, it should jump to code entry point once code gets loaded and Wait BOOT should not impact that.

thanks for the reply,

When i connect the device to my PC the above circled LEDs turns ON, so when i load my program nothing happens!! even when i press the reset button.
I have been reading about the EMU_BOOTCTRL and the BOOTCTRL register in the user-configurable DCSM OTP in "ROM Code and Peripheral Booting" chapter of SPRUHM8G ...but i have no idea how to factory reset the device so that i can run from emulator.

could you give me some tips on how to do that!?

Hello

Does the program halt at a particular address?
Please detail the procedure that you are trying.
Boot will automatically perform different actions when it detects that emulator is connected, refer to flow chart in the TRM chapter you're referencing.

I loaded my program (that generates PWMs) to run from flash and i guess the problem generated when the ePWM was set to output high frequency that's why the board wasn't outputting anything so i though the problem was with the board until i used SPCLKDIVH and CLKDIV to divide the clock. now both program and board works fine.

This doesn't answer the question though.

what is WAIT BOOT Mode ?

Wait boot is described in the datasheet: http://www.ti.com/lit/SPRS880 Section "WAIT Boot Mode"

It is exactly what it sounds like. It is a mode where the CPU will look in Boot Rom. Useful for waiting to connect a debugger, if you do not want it to jump into the application code.
