CCS/LAUNCHXL-F28027F: CCS/LAUNCHXL-F28027F

Part Number: LAUNCHXL-F28027F
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BOOSTXL-BUCKCONV, LAUNCHXL-F28069M, TIDM-DC-DC-BUCK, , LAUNCHXL-F28379D

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hellow. I want to interface Boostxl-Buckconv with F28027F. How to proceed with that? Can i have the relevant documentation?

  • Muhammad,

I recommend using the LAUNCHXL-F28069M with BOOSTXL-BUCKCONV. There is already code and documentation written for this combination in the form of the TIDM-DC-DC-BUCK reference design.

The pins may be compatible between the BUCKCONV and F28027 LP, but porting the code would take a significant amount of work that requires familiarity with the device hardware.

  • Actually i have purchased LAUNCHXL-F28379D and LAUNCHXL-F28027F. As per website both are compatible with BOOSTXL-BUCKCONV but according to compatibility checker  LAUNCHXL-F28379D turned out to be non-compatible. Is there any other option than going for a new LAUNCHPAD?

  • Muhammad,

The LAUNCHXL-F28379D is compatible with BOOSTXL-BUCKCONV from a hardware perspective. The ADC pin multiplexing makes it tricky to choose a specific function on the compatibility checker that will work for all LP and BP combinations.

If you are trying to learn how the TIDM-DC-DC-BUCK buck converter solution works, I would still recommend using LAUNCHXL-F28069M unless you have deep familiarity with C2000 development. You will spend far more than $25 worth of time and effort trying to port the example code to another launchpad.

However, if you are wanting to develop your own custom solution using the hardware and do not plan to re-use the TIDM-DC-DC-BUCK example, then you can proceed with using an alternate LP with BOOSTXL-BUCKCONV.
