[FAQ]Getting Started with C2000 MCUs for Motor Control

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CONTROLSUITE, MOTORWARE

What are the resources for getting started with motor control using C2000 MCUs, both hardware and software?

  • Overview

TI.com contains both free motor control software with reference hardware design files and solution codes for most motor control algorithms to shorten your development cycle.

Please refer to the below list for the best starting point based on your end application and C2000 MCU.

Also see the motor control landing page on the C2000 homesite

    C2000 MCUs

All C2000 devices can support at least 3-phase motor control. For a list of C2000 MCUs that support InstaSPIN based control see:

    InstaSPIN-FOC enabled MCUs

    InstaSPIN-MOTION enabled MCUs

    Software

MotorControl SDK: Includes 3-phase PMSM or BLDC based sensorless InstaSPIN-FOC solutions for F28004xC, and 3-phase PMSM based sensored FOC solutions with fast current loop for F2838x, F2837x and F28004x.

MotorWare Software: Includes InstaSPIN-FOC and InstaSPIN-Motion based 3-phase motor control applications for F2802x, F2805x, and F2806x series, supports ACIM, PMSM and BLDC using FOC.

controlSUITE: Includes 3-phase BLDC based on hall sensor or sensorless trapezoidal control, 3-phase ACIM/PMSM based sensored FOC with QEP encoder or sensorless FOC.

Notes: controlSUITE and motorWare are no longer being updated, but will continue to be available for download. The latest software releases for motor control application examples through MotorControl SDK.
