Instaspin + ASIL levels

Hello!

Can Instaspin SW be certified at any ASIL level? If not, is it planned to do that?

Thank you in advance

Borja Gómez

  • SIL/ASIL certifications are at the system level, so it's not easy to comment on directly. For example, there are things at the chip HW level which would make it challenging to certify a system using Piccolo to ASIL-D regardless of the SW, while certifying for B or C may be achievable.

But additionally there is a challenge specific to the InstaSPIN library - as release today on Piccolo F2806x, 5x, and 2x devices - in regards to memory verification. Because the library is in execute only (no read) memory you can't verify to the bit level (CRC) that the library image is unchanged on power on.
  • OK. So, we probably will have to include an extra uC for safety functions verification

    Thank you.
