DRV8301-HC-C2-KIT: DRV8301-HC-C2-KIT: Over Current protection

Part Number: DRV8301-HC-C2-KIT

Hi there:

I used lab 11e (Hall Start with Transition to FAST) using a DRV8301-HC-C2-KIT, a BLDC motor with hall-effect sensors (40S10A), and a power supply (PMT-48V35W1AR). I connected the hall-effect sensors to J10 in wrong order by mistake, and I downloaded the compiled code of Lab 11e. The power supply (self protected) was disconnected automatically after I sett "gMotorVars.Flag_Run_Identify" to 1, and I found the motor was so hot, so I believe the kit drew s high current more than 7.3 A (the maximum output current from the power supply). However, I set "USER_MOTOR_MAX_CURRENT" to 5, I believe this Max current limits the output (Iqref) of the speed PI controller. I looked at the code and the datasheet, I found the driver "8301" provides Programmable Overcurrent Protection (OCP) that detects the over current from the external MOSFET (Vds).

Is there anyway I can set the over current value to protect the motor and the kit?

Thanks in advance for the help and support.

Sincerely,

Basem
