TMDSHVMTRINSPIN: Does this Hardware is normal?

Part Number: TMDSHVMTRINSPIN
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MOTORWARE,
I tried to connect ISO-JP1 port of F2806x ISO controlCARD to USB port of my computer.
But I failed connection because of POWER-OFFof my home electricity whenever I try to connect ISO-JP1 port to my computer.
(Home Circuit Breaker of Electricity was operating.)
I extremely wondered this experiment kit is normal. Please someone comment about this.
  • Did you connect AC power to P1 of HV-Kit? And did you connect the probe of oscilloscope to HV-Kit also? Please be noted that the HV-Kit is hot ground design. The kit is ok for debug if you only connect the ISO emulator by J1 of controlCard or JP1 of HV-kit to your computer.
  • Hello. Yanming.

Yes, I connected AC power to P1 of HV-Kit.

I didn't connect probe of oscilloscope to HV-Kit.

I also know that HV-Kit is hot ground design.

As I explained attached file(tmds.pptx), I can't connect ISO emulator J1 of controlCARD to my computer

because of power-down of home electricity.

(I think this is short circuit when ISO emulator J1 of controlCARD is connected to USB port of computer)

Considering this condition, how this HV-Kit could be normal????

  • Hello,  to many  TI FAEs.

I want your decision for my problem as mentioned above.

I want exchange or repair this HV-kit.

Two and half months have passed since I requested solution for my problem to E2E community and TI service.

They continuously said that in order to exchange or repair my HV-kit, I should be confirmed from FAE at E2E community.

I posted my problem E2E community several times , but no one confirmed my HV-Kit is normal or not.

Who is responsible for exchange or repair for their product inside TI?

If there is no FAE's post for my problem, how can I solve my problem.

  • You can disconnect AC power, only connect the 15V power supply to check HV-kit and F2806x controlCard fisrt.
    1. Don't insert F28069 controlCard to HV-kit, only use USB micro AB as power supply and connect isolated JTAG usb port, make sure that SW3-1 is on as "Piccolo F28069M controlCARD Hardware Guide". To check whether the controlCard is ok.
    2. Insert the controlCard to HV-Kit if it's ok, and insert a Jumper on J5 of M3 of HV-kit to disable on-board emulator of HV-kit, and then try to connect the emulator again.
  • Hello. Yanming.
Tank you for your reply, but I can't find "Piccolo F28069M controlCARD Hardware Guide" from internet.
So I can't check whether controlCARD is ok.
Please let me know the web address or send me a file.
    Thank you.
  • Hi Yongcheol,

You can find all documents related to InstaSPIN in the following fold if you download MotorWare ( http://www.ti.com/tool/motorware ).

     "ti\motorware\motorware_1_01_00_18\docs\boards"

The default jump settings should work. The one thing you have to is inserting jump at [M3] J3 like below figure if you connect JTAG via J1 USB port in the ISO 06x  controlcard.

I think the poor isolation is making your problem.  The C71 in the controlCARD located between the isolation section to mitigate noise coupling, but sometimes it can make isolation issue. First of all, pls try removing this capacitor which is located on the back side of controlCARD.

    Thanks,

    Steve

  • Hello. Steve and Yanming.
Thank you for your comment and suggestion.

Neither of your comment was solved this problem.
Even though some electronic components of F2806X ISO controlCARD were burnt,
still I can't connect ISO JP1 port of controlCARD to USB port of my computer
because of power down of home electric system due to short circuit of HV-kit.(my guess)

    I bought this HV-kit (TMDSHVMTRINSPIN) in Nov-7,2017.
I tried to solve this issue through the E2E community and TI service team more than three month.

I am not a expert of hardware, I am a motor engineer who are interested in motor control.
Now I am tired and angry to explain my problem anymore,
I explained my problem many many many times through emails and this community.
I spent three months to explain my issue.
Also I have to repair my computer with my money that was also dead during the test.

Do you need more explanation of my issue?
I just wanted exchange or fix my HV-kit.
In order to exchange or fix , I needed TI FAE's decision according to TI service policy.

Please judge this HV-kit is normal or not,
and exchange this kit if this is abnormal,
    and compensate my time.

I want a quick response from TI engineers who is responsible for HW error.
    Thank you.
  • Hi Yongcheol,

Sorry for wasting your time with EVM HW issue. I think you are here in Korea.

If you send it to TI office whose address is here, let me check it and get back to you.

  • I will send this HV-kit tomorrow without 15V AC-DC adapter because I bought it at local market.
In case of 15V AC-DC adapter which was enclosed with main HV-kit, but different version of intermediate plug, I can't use it.
Also I requested sending me correct version of intermediate plug many times, still it didn't arrived yet.
  • Youngcheol,

I've received well the HV-Kit. I found your controlCARD was burned out near the JTAG circuit. I replaced it with new one and removed C71 on controlCARD for reinforced isolation. I've check the Kit with our HV Motor and worked well.
I also put the new 15V adopter. Let me send it back to you today.

    Thanks,
    Steve
