TMS320F28062: Precautions required to use instaSPIN devices

Hi,

We currently use TMS320F28062UPNT microcontrollers in some of our devices with lots of specific I/O and USB. Due to component shortage, we investigated TMS320F28062FPNT as a potential replacement in case of an emergency.

Based on the "TMS320F2806x Piccolo™ Microcontrollers" documentation, I know so far it includes USB and enables the instaSPIN-FOC feature. As we talk about thousands of pieces, is there any incompatibility or precautions I should be aware of before allowing the use of this variant ? Could some peripherals behave (even slightly) differently due to this additional feature ?

Pierre,

It is 100% compatible. Feel safe in using the F2806xF as you would the 6xU.

Hi Pierre,.

As Chris noted, all peripherals are same for both devices. But, in terms of software, the start address of IQmath and FPU tables in ROM are changed in F2806xF .So link command file(.cmd) should be updated as below table for F2806xF devices. Please refer to the cmd files in controlSUITE.

Hi Steve,

Thank you for adding this information, I will double check if we use these and need to adapt our software.
If we do, I guess this means we cannot use the same ".out" file for both versions ?

Is there a way we could have an indirection allowing to define at run time where the tables are located ?
Our versioning procedures now impose a single output file set for a given software revision and it would not be convenient to maintain two of them.
