Hi,

I am in the process of the designing a RM48L950-ZWT  into a new product. I have bought the RM48 HDK development kit and 10 samples devices for my prototypes. You can only get "X" grade silicon at the moment - and not in any great numbers.

When will the standard RM48L950-ZWR be avialable? and what about the other (lower spec) members of the family?

I don't want to get caught out with a product design where I cannot get production quanities of the device (100+) within a reasonable timeframe.

Any reassurance welcome!

Thanks, best wishes

Peter

    Peter,

First, let me just say that TI is fully committed to production release of the RM48x product line.

The RM48x devices are not yet qualified/released to production.  That is why you can only get xRM48 devices today.  The RM48L952 device will be the first device to be qualified and is scheduled to complete qual in the October time frame (this for both the 144QFP and 337BGA packages).   Other variants of the RM48x will be qualified/released to production in 2Q13 (assume June for now).  Qualified/released to production means that we will be taking production orders at that time – allow 4-6 weeks for delivery.

With that said, getting 100’s of units should not be a problem even today of the prototype version.

Let me know if that doesn’t answer your question.

    Best Regards,

    Hi Roy,

Thanks for the answer, that is good to know.

The rm48 is a great part and ideal for my application. My projected production volumes ramp up so it is 100+ this year (2012) and 1000+ next year (2013).

I am also using the TMS570 in another application, so I am a fan of these new offerings.

    Cheers Peter
