ethernet interface to TMS570LC4357

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS570LC4357

Hi at all,

we are using the TMS570LC4357 and ethernet interface (mii).

We prefer to use primary terminal pins on the mcu interfaceing ethernet phy.

Is there a reason why the ti evalboards interfaces secondary terminal pins which are multiplexed with n2het or spi e.g.?

best regards, René

  • Hi Rene,
To interface with the primary ethernet pins you will need to create your own board. I believe you are talking about the HDK, correct. The LC4357 HDK is the same as other Hercules HDK such as LS31x/LS21x. These devices only have one set of ethernet pins which are muxed with other functional signals. In LC4357 these muxed pins become the secondary Ethernet pins.
  • Charles,

Actually the Launchpad   uses the primary interface pins for ethernet.

The HDK does not, since it is the same PCB as the HDK for the LS3137 and the LS3137 only has the mux'd pins for ethernet.

But the launchpad for the LC4357 was specifically designed to support the additional dedicated pins.

  • Anthony,
Thanks for additional information to Rene. I was assuming Rene was referring to the HDK board.

    Rene,
Please see Anthony's comment that if you are using the LaunchPad then the primary Ethernet pins are used.
