TMS570LS3137: MibSPIP parallel pin mode compatibility with ADS8557

Part Number: TMS570LS3137

Hi,
I want to connect my ADS855 Evaluation with Hercules TMS570LS3137. The thing is..

The ADC anticipates 16 Clocks, but 3137 will give only 4 clocks for 4-line mode (4*4 = 16bits of ShiftRegister). 3137 expects slave to understanding its protocol.

is it possible (and if possible, is it safe & deterministic) to perform 4 reads from the ADC?

The above picture was taken from "spna231"

  • Hello Sharif,

My apologies for the delay in getting back with you. As far as the process of expected number of clocks and reading 4 times, I can't guarantee what the results might be. It depends on how the ADC breaks down the data and sends it out on each of the read cycles. Really, you would need to run the experiments and see what this does. It sounds like there is a mismatch between the SPI implementations on the two devices. Does the ADC have a standard SPI mode that can be used instead of the parallel mode?
