TMS570LS3137: Kelvin_GND Question

Part Number: TMS570LS3137

Hey team,

Hoping you can help with the question below:

"In my application, I am connecting the Kelvin_GND pin of my TMS570 to the board GND. I would like to know if this is a problem." Figure 6-4 in Section 6.6.1.1 of the datasheet makes this unclear.

Any insight is appreciated, thanks

Regards,

Alex

  • Hello Alex,

If you use an external crystal as clock source, the external crystal load capacitors should be tied back to Kelvin_GND.Kelvin_GND is not intended to be shorted to other GND lines externally.

If you use an external oscillator which is driving a 3.3V peak-to-peak signal into OSCIN and OSCOUT is left open, Kelvin_GND is tied to the external oscillator's ground which should be common to other grounds on the device.
