TMS570LC4357: Voltage Monitoring

Part Number: TMS570LC4357

Hello,

We are using the TMS570LC4357 and we have question about voltage monitoring characteristics (§6.2 in the datashet (spns195c)):

It is desribed in §6.2.2 that "The I/O supply must be above the threshold for monitoring the core supply".

The sentence seems to be related to the last line of Table 6-1 (VCCIO Low).

Could you explain us with more precision what is the meaning of this sentence please ?

Best regards,

Christopher

  • Hello Christopher,

What this is trying to convey is that the logic within the VMON relies on the IO voltage being above the VCCIO low specification. i.e., if the VCCIO voltage level is not above VCCIO low, VCC monitoring is not active so there is no assurance that VCC is operating within the range needed. This should not be an immediate issue since when the VCCIO is below the VCCIO Low threshold, the VMON asserts the power-on reset of the device and the PGMCU and PGIO signals are driven low to indicate that there is no valid supply.
