Hello there,

I am new to the MSP430 and to TI products in general and am trying to familiarize myself with them .

I try to do a simple application with an MSP430FE427. I would to download a code file

with extension (.d43 ) using an emulator MSP-FET430UIF  + an MSP-TS430PM64 board .

but a message appear indicating that there are any support.

I would be grateful  if you help me to identify the solution .

  • The FET does not recognize the target CPU. When asked by teh programming software for the attached device, it returns an empty ID. This means that either no device is detected or that teh device type cannot be determined.

    A typical reason is a missing power supply (ensure that you apply the required VCC to J5 or have the local suppl yof the FET activated. Also be sure that J7 is closed (it is only to be opened if you replace it by a current sensor)

    Also, re-check the orientation of the chip. Pin1 is the upper left corner of the socket, as you correctly marked in your doc. But the chip itself has several elements which could be mistaken for the pin1 mark. It's easy to insert it the wrong way without noticing. I did so too on my first attempt.
