ADC10_A channel A12

Where is the ADC10_A channel # A12 mapped to? or how?

I could not find it in MSP430x5xx/MSP430x6xx Family
User's Guide (SLAU208J), nor in the MSP430 Datasheet of MSP430F550x

thx for reply

  • Take another look at the datasheet. Especially Table 1: Family members. In teh ADC10 column, you'll only find members with 6 or 10 external channels. So only A0 to A9 are externall mapped. A10 and A11 are internal and the rest is simply not present.

  • Thanks for reply.

There was a mistake in my queston, I am interested in the internal channel #11, which is only shown in slau208j Figure 25-1. ADC10_A Block Diagram. The channel is assigned to Batt.Monitor. I should know what it is exactly, because there are multiple supply pins on the chip. And how it is assigned (e.g. resistor divider). I could not find more about this channel. Does somebody know more?

    thanks for reply

  • Soem MSPs have a backup battery module. There a BAKADC bit can be set and will route Vbatt/2 to the ADC. So you can measure the state of the backup battery.
    On ADC12, channel 11 usually reads VCC/2.

I don't know whether there is actually an MSP with battery backup and ADC12.

It is possible that on MSPs without battery backup system, channel 11 of the ADC10 also reads VCC/2.
