Unable to find the programmer for MSP430G2x03 32 pin QFN package (RHB32)

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430G2403

Hi

I am planning to switch the MSP430G2403 controller package from PW28 (20pin TSSOP - programmer:MSP-FET430U28A) to RHB32 (32pin QFN) due to the space constraint on the board.

But unfortunately I am not able to find the programmer on TI website and nothing mentioned about the programmer for RHB32 package in SLAU278H

Is there no offboard programmer for this controller? if so what is d reason.

The reason is that the whole MSP series is designed for in-circuit-programming.
What you call an offboard programmer is rather a breakout board for initial experiments. For which the package is rather unimportant, so it's only available for one package type.
As soon as the package type becomes important (because you want to make your own PCB), you usually switch oert to in-circuit-programming by providing a JTAG header on the board (or make the two wires required for Spy-By-Wire available somehow) and program the MSP after it has been soldered.

If you really want to mass-program the MSPs of a certain package type before soldering them, you ca always design a simple PCB with jsut the JTAG header and a ZIF socket fo this package.
The 'programmer' itself, usually the FET-UIF, is always the same and connects with the same 14-pin header to almost all boards.

Getting the PCB designed is quiet possible for me.. but how and where can I get the ZIF socket for this package?..

Well, I don't know, I never needed one. But Digi-key is a candidate for distributing them.
