There is no 'the solution'. (and if it were, you wouldn't have a job)
Thsi specific MSP has two UARTs. So your choices start here: on which to connect the bar code reader?
In any case, if the reader has real RS232 (that means +-3V to +-12V signals), you'll require an MAX3232 level shifter between the MSP and the reader.
Any other information you need is in the device datasheets (for MSP as well as for reader and the PS/2 standard description) and the MSP430F5xx/6xx family users guide.
For the generic usage of the USCI module for serial communication, there are sample codes available form the MSP product page (e.g. in MSP430Ware and the MSP driver library)
Maybe someone has already written such a program, maybe not. Since there is no global standard for bar code readers, nobody can tell without knowing which reader you want to use.
The questions you asked are like ordering shoes without telling the intended usage or even the size.

Do you actaully want to do it - yourself?

That would be to do you project for you!
I only have barcode scanner info. Here is a list of related RS scanner which may be of help for you: qr code scanner, Code 128 scanner.
i'd like to offer you some related information about barcode reader , which supports qr code, code bar, code 39, code 128, which is a good barcode reader tool
i was also considering how to create a barcode scanner to make it more beatifully . any help would be appreciated.
Interfacing a PS/2 keyboard is fairly easy, as the protocol is easy to decode.
Here's a link to the protocol:
http://www.computer-engineering.org/ps2protocol/
all you need are the 4 pins from the keyboard, DATA,CLOCK, VCC and GND.(just two pins for the communication)
I have already written a library for PS/2 keyboard(am still working on refurbishing it) for the MSP430G2553
I will be posting it as a project in the MSP430 MCU projects blog.
Do you mean you want to create a barcode reader project? You can check out an example here, but if you want to make the the user-interface more appealling, you're gonna have to check out some cool UI libs out there, and a designer too!
Do u mean that u should do a project about barcode reader?i have used one,it's good enough for me.i hope it's helpful:)
