The MSP430G2955 is actually a pretty new part, I think it only came out in the last year. The EVM that can be used is linked off of the MSP430G2955 product page, and I've also provided the link here. This is kit with FET tool for programming: http://www.ti.com/tool/msp-fet430u38 - and here's the version without the programmer (if you already have a programming tool): http://www.ti.com/tool/msp-ts430da38

There are many MSP430s that have 3 timers (though most are probably F5xx or FR5xx family devices instead of 2xx parts). I would recommend looking at the MSP430 product selector page and using it to filter for parts with 3 timers: http://www.ti.com/lsds/ti/microcontroller/16-bit_msp430/products.page

Thanks Katie -- that was a big help!

Most of my work over the past 4 years has been with the TMS320F28069 AND F28035 Piccolo 32-bit.

I'm going to try the 430F5152 as my preliminary processor choice for this project, using the MSP-FET430U40 programmer/develpment board with the 430F5172.

Only thing confusing about this development kit is that it says: 

"cables and header pinouts for prototyping MSP430F2330IRHA, MSP430F2350IRHA, MSP430F2370IRHA, MSP430F2330TRHA MSP430F2350TRHA and MSP430F2370TRHA flash devices."

Then below that it says: "2 x MSP430F5172IRSB and One Target board (MSP-TS430RSB40)," which is what I want, since the 430F5172 is (apparently) the same core as the 430F5152 (my prelim. processor choice for this project).

Hope I picked the right development kit?
