MSP430F6736 No load currrent reading

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430F6736

Hi all,

I am working on MSP430F6736 controller. currently facing an issue related to no load current.

In no load condition the controller is reading current in the range of 10mA to 40mA. But should be ideally 0mA.

So can any one suggest me a solution for this problem.

Thanks

  • And what does it read on 10mA?
Likely, this is an offset problem. Either caused by an uncalibrated ADC or caused by the external circuitry. Or both.
Well, 10mA are not much if the data range is 400A, while it is much if 100mA is your measuring range.
Also, if using current transformers, keep in mind that they are magnetic devices, so some magnetic influence may cause a small reading.
And what about the MSP itself? If it is powered by the same line, it may measure its own consumption, depending on the polarity and shunt position (before or after the supply branch)

  • Hi jens-Michael,

thanks for ur reply. your suggestion was very usefull. I agree with your conclusion.
