Multiple MSP GANG programmers

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP-GANG

In the case that GANG programmers enumerated as different COM ports, you should be able to use multiple GUIs to access each of them. The issue we're seeing though is that when we have multiple connected, they all enumerate as the COM port. Is there any way to change which COM port they would enumerate as?

  • Hi Reagan,

This is an interesting case - unfortunately I am travelling at the moment, but I will have access to multiple MSP-GANG programmers next week and can try to figure this out.

    Regards,

    Katie

  • Just to make sure - you are referring to using multiple MSP-GANG programmers, not MSP-GANG430 programmers right?

    MSP-GANG = black with LCD, new/current version

MSP-GANG430 = grey with LEDs/no screen, old version listed on website now as Obsolete

  • Hi Reagan,

I just tried this with 2 MSP-GANG programmers here (both with the latest firmware version 1.1.9.0). I plug both in, and I can see in device manager that they both enumerate as different COM ports for me:

Then I open two instances of the MSP-GANG software GUI. At first, by default, they both are trying to connect to one of the MSP-GANG programmers. One will connect successfully and the other will not (because the first GUI has already connected to it). However, I can then easily use the dropdown in this second GUI to change the COM port that it has selected, to point to the other currently unused MSP-GANG.

Now I have each GUI instance talking to a different MSP-GANG.

Is the customer able to do this, or were they having some other problem?

    Regards,

    Katie
