    With an ampere meter in the supply wire.

    Aso, you can put a series resistor between VCC and the VCC pin of the MSP. Then hook two scope probes to both ends and show the differential voltage on the scope (depending on serial resistance, the voltage over the resistor is proportional to the current, on 1K resistance, you’ll get 1mV/µA). You can use an I/O pin as trigger for the scope to signal LPM entry.

    The new MSP-FET can give you a good recording of the energy injected into the whole target board (including all peripherals). This feature is called EnergyTrace. It does, however, require an MSP-FET and a target board that can be connected to and powered by the MSP-FET (so not the G2 LaunchPad)
