MSP430F5172 Features set.

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430F5172

Hi, does the MSP430 F5172 support "Routing of an internal reference voltage to an associated output port pin"?

The user manual generically refers to it for the family, but how do I find out if this feature is supported on my particular chip?

Thanks,

Karl

  • Karl,

referring to the MSP430F5172 specific datasheet: http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/msp430f5172.pdf, Table 4-1. Terminal Functions at page 11, you can see that P3.5 and P3.6 can be assigned as VeREF+ and VeREF- respectively. However this means that you can use it only as input pins if you want to use external reference voltage, but not as output of the internal reference voltage.

So the short answers unfortunately: no, you can't output the internal reference voltage through a pin for MSP430F5172. Other MSP430F5xx such as the MSP430F543x has pins which are called VREF+ and VREF- which can be used to output the internal reference voltage.

  • Looking at the diagrams in the users guide, it seems that devices with ADC10_A generally do not support Vref output, while those with ADC12_A do.
