MSP430F5438A and CC256X Bluetooth controller

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430F5438A, CC2540

Hi, I'm working on a senior design project that uses the CC256X Evaluation Board with the MSP430F5438A Development Board. I was wondering what is the best and cheapest IDE to use?

Also, I need to track 10 CC2540 Bluetooth devices at a time. Is there any special firmware I need to flash to the CC256X Evaluation Board? Thanks for your time.

Best regards,

Forrest Kimbriel

  • Hi Forrest,

I don't know about the IDEs needed for CC256x, so I moved this to the Low Power RF Tools forum. For MSP430, I know that there are some free code limited versions of both CCS and IAR available. These will limit the size of project that you can build however with the free version, so be aware of this - if your code includes a large Bluetooth stack, I don't know if it will fit in the code size limitation or not and you might need the full versions instead then.

If you are at a university, you may also want to check with your department there to see if they have some sort of network license that will give students access to a full version of either CCS or IAR.
