msp430-gcc fails to install

Try invoking it like this ...

$ ./msp430-gcc-full-linux-installer-3.2.3.0.run

That is exactly what I did. Nothing happens.

It works for me.  I can only guess at what may be wrong.  Perhaps the file got corrupted during the download.  Have you tried downloading it again?

Well I checked the md5sum of the file, surprisingly matches.

Perhaps some libraries missing? What is odd is that it does not give me any error messages.

I'm out of ideas.  I'll move this thread into the MSP430 forum.  They may have some suggestions.

Try running the installer under strace, since that may highlight which missing library is causing a problem.

[I have seen the CCS installer under Linux fail without reporting any errors when there were missing libraries, which running the installer under strace identfifed]

It worked.

I probably installed the missing library for another application, by accident it fixed the problem.

(@Debian 7.8 64bits)

$strace ./msp430-gcc-full-linux-installer-3.2.3.0.run
show ..32 bits mode....

and install 32bits lib :
$..sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386;sudo apt-get update;sudo apt-get install libc6:i386

and install again :
$ ./msp430-gcc-full-linux-installer-3.2.3.0.run
