MSP430FR5989 does not start after power down.

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430FR5989, MSP-FET

Hi everyone,

I'm using a MSP430FR5989 in combination with a MSP-FET tool and CCS 6. I experience the following:

I can program and start the MSP via CCS and JTAG. I can disconnect the JTAG cable, push the reset button, and the program restarts. When I disconnect and then reconnect the power source, the MSP will not start, pushing the reset button won't help. In this state I can start the program by plugging in the JTAG cable for a brief moment and then unplugging it again. This works even with CCS closed, so I'm sure the memory doesn't get lost without power. Starting the MSP this way only works once, then the FET has to be disconnected from USB and reconnected, to be able to start the MSP again.

Now I'm wondering: what causes this kind of behaviour, and how can I get the chip to run once the power gets turned on? Any help would be much appreciated.

Best Regards,

Andreas Vetter
