Hi,

I'm working with msp430f6659 micro. I have application but I need do bootloader. Current bootloader USB which is default in uC is OK and we use it, but additionally I need to flash my uC if new firmware exists in external SPI flash chip which I have on my board.

Could you help me to which USB bootloader can I try to add my piece of code to support ext. flash chip?

I would like to add that firmware in ext. chip flash is downloaded by application via rs485 or radio.

Hello,

Need clarification please. Are you trying to upgrade the flash on the msp430f6659 or the external flash? Or do you want to upgrade the flash of the MSP430F6659 via the external flash? If you want to upgrade the flash on the msp430f6659 directly, you can use the MSP430Flasher.exe application to do this.

Hi,

Thanks for response. We want to upgrade our device in the field we have only connection via rs485 with our own protocol. So we have a plan firstly to send new HEX/BIN (what is simpler?) image to external flash (this is additional chip on our pcb) via rs485. Next if new image exists in external flash chip we want to force msp430 to run bootloader (probably we must write our own bootloader) which load new image from external flash chip into msp430 flash.

Where can I find (if possible) how to prepare linker scripts for BOOT and APP for msp430F6659? Bootloader in main flash NOT bsl.

I saw example Main Memory Bootloader but this is for msp430G2553 but linker script is quite different.

I'm using CCS 6.0

Nobody did main flash bootloader in msp430f6659? Any answer will be ok, I need some "hint" to start work.
