Can't find any documentation for a MSP-TS430PZ5x100-USB target board

I obtained this following second-hand MSP-TS430PZ5x100-USB target board:

It looks to be a TI target board for a 100 pin LQFP MSP430 device with USB, but I can't find any mention of a MSP-TS430PZ5x100-USB target board on the TI website.

Is there any documentation for this target board?

  • Hello,

The schematic for this board can be found in the 'MSP430 hardware tools user guide'  http://www.ti.com/tool/msp-ts430pz5x100

Thanks, but that target board MSP-TS430PZ5x100 doesn't have a USB connector.

Whereas the picture of the MSP-TS430PZ5x100-USB target board in my post above is a different target target since it has a USB connector. That is my confusion as I can't find the MSP-TS430PZ5x100-USB target board in the MSP430 Hardware Tools User's Guide SLAU278U.

[I obtained the MSP-TS430PZ5x100-USB target board with a collection of second-hand MSP430 items rather than from a TI distributor so maybe it was never officially released by TI, and I am just curious about which device(s) may be fitted]

  • This is very interesting! If you google for pictures of "MSP-TS430PZ5x100-USB" the only picture you get is your one, although the name of the board is printed in the silkscreen together with the TI information.

Sorry, couldn't find anything about it either.

Edit: The MSP-TS430PZ100USB comes close to it, but still isn't the same. You have additional buttons on the front. And the homepage says it comes in early January 2015, so it is very new and you say your one is older. Btw.: The link shows a 80 pin version board while the link says 100.

  • Hello,

SLAU278U has the schematic for the MSP-TS430PZ100USB board that looks like the PZ5x100-USB board that you have.

I would start with the schematic for the MSP-TS430PZ100USB in SLAU278U as Arthi has stated. It looks like the revision is now 1.25, but in terms of board features, your board does look similar to the rev. 1.25 board...You have pushbuttons populated, additional LEDs and supporting logic populated, where rev. 1.25 had to have those added. You probably have an unpopulated Q1 on the board (like rev. 1.25) - this would be the place to populate the 32 KHz crystal - depending on the processor, you may or may not need to add resistors and capacitors.
