MSP432P401R External Battery

I tried to connect 3.3V External Battery to the MSP432P401R Launchpad to the Pins (3.3v / Gnd) on the Right of the board - it did not work. However, when I connected the same 3.3v (external battery) to the 5V and Gnd on the Left of the board, the board started running. I have been running it for 2 hours, it is running steady? Is this the right connection for an external supply. By the way, both Jumpers for 3V and 5V are set. Any suggestions?

  • Supplying power to the 3.3V connector supplies only power to the Target part (MSP432P401R) of the board and not (fully) the Emulator part. The emulator can keep some lines from the target ‘Low’.

Supplying power to the 5V connector supplies the emulator part of the board. The emulator regulates the power to 3.3V and supplies the target via the 3.3V Jumper.

If you want to supply only the Target and also wants to save power, connect power to the 3.3V connector and remove all jumpers between the emulator and the target, but at least the 3.3V jumper.
  • Thank you. That helps.
