MSP430F149 ADC

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430F149

We use an older uP MSP430F149, that has a 12bit ADC module.

The module occasionally provides an incorrect conversion result that clears upon a NMI reset event.

Only about 5% of the uPs exhibit this issue.

FYI - part of our manufacturing process uses intense UV light on the die part we use...

Any ideas on cause?

Thanks, Al

  • Is there a coherence between devices taking wrong measurements in UV-light and working fine when not exposed to it?
  • Hi, Dennis - the process exposes the entire "product" to intense UV to cure a "potting" compound. Once cured, and into testing, the cards incorrectly report voltage over and over, until reset... Then the result is accurate.

As if the UV hammered a ref voltage or hardware, temporarily...
We turn the ADC module off, between measurements... which does NOT fix it...
    Thanks, Al
