License question

Alfredo Hernaiz Puebla

I have a issue with the licence. We have a unlimited code license at work. I am new here, and I do not know how the license is working. The computer has the CCS5 and the CCS6 installed. I was working on CCS6 yesterday and before, but now I have the free license and I can not compile due to code size limits. The CCS5 is still full licensed.

How it works the license?

Apply this license to the two programs? If this is not the case, I suppose I was using a trial license.

Can I move the license from the CCS5 to the CCS6?

Good question! I think the annual subscription for major updates is not necessary anymore, but I do not know if this also applies to pre v6 license files (not sure at all about this). Have you tried to input your license file to CCSv6? Maybe JohnS can clear things up.

No, because I do not know where it is... Can I find it in the installation directory? I think that the license is in a server, but I do not know nothing about this process, The licensing was done by a partner, and he is no more here. Where can I find information about this process?

Oh, OK. Then better contact TI or wait if John S responds here in the thread. It depends on the license form you have. I have a node locked license that belongs to my computer so I have a license file for it.

Historically a CCSv5 license will not work with CCSv6. You needed to maintain your subscription to upgrade major versions. However as Dennis mentioned we have changed this policy going forward. If you download and install CCSv6.1.1 it will let you use your CCSv5 license file.

You do need to point CCS to your license file. To find out where the license file is in CCSv5 go to help -> Code Composer Studio Licensing information. Click on the manage tab. This will list the locations where CCS is looking for licenses. It could be a license file locally on your machine or a license server. Now run CCSv6. Go to the same location. Setup the same locations.

Thank you for the information given. Checking it, I think that I erased the license file, because it was in the downloads folder. is there any posibility of getting it back?

Sure. Go to www.ti.com/myregisteredsoftware
From there you can see each CCS license that you have activated. Click the manage button beside the license. Then select get replacement license. It will email the license file to you.
