MSP430: Trouble Writing Memory Block

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP-FET

I am using the following version of CC =>  Version: 5.5.0.00077

Sometimes when I try to load my application I see the following error:

MSP430: Trouble Writing Memory Block at 0x8000 on Page 0 of Length 0x6d6a: Could not erase device memory
MSP430: GEL: File: C:\Users\workspace_v5_5\foo\Debug\foo.out: Load failed.

I can eventually get out of it and it programs ok for a while.

I have looked through other posts and have not found a solution.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Brent

  • Hello Brent,

So this is a sporadic error that only occurs some of the time? I assume this happens when it tries to program the device and not while the project is building since the error involves erasing device memory. My best guess is that the connection to your device is faulty and causing the behavior shown. Which device (Launchpad, target board, custom board, etc.) and FET tool (MSP-FET, MSP-FET430UIF, eZ-FET, etc.) are you using? Be sure to use as small of cables as possible and that all wires are of a similar length.

    Regards,
    Ryan
  • Thanks Ryan,

Upon closer examination of my setup, some pins were not making great connection.
