Assignment of a Serial Number to MSP430F5529?

I am needing to connect multiple (of the same) device to a USB bus at once. I have read that I can manually assign a serial number to each of the devices when flashing the program. I would like to be able to recognize which serial number has been connected to the USB bus and which port it was assigned to on my windows machine. If you have any information on how I can manually assign a serial number 1-8 to my devices so that when connected I can keep track of them in the C# gui that would be very helpful.

TI's default USB implementation automatically assigns a unique serial number to each device (based on the die record).

I had already read all about that Clemens, I appreciate your response but am wanting to know the best way to assign each DAQ a serial number of my choice so that when I plug it in, the GUI will recognize it as Serial #1, or Serial #8. This is important because when connecting multiple USB devices the topology in which they are connected is important, so it needs to be managed in a specific way. This is what I am trying to get help and direction with.

Do you want to assign the serial number when flashing, or when the devices run for the first time?

I would like to flash them all with a designated Serial Number so that I can then label the actual device. That way I know which device I am physically plugging in and so does the computer.

The MSP-GANG430, and most third-party flashers, can assign automatically incrementing serial numbers.

However, if you don't want to throw lots of money at the problem, and for just eight devices, the easiest way would be to put the number into the source code:

const char serial[] = "0001";

and recompile it eight times.
