Hi,

I am facing data types problem while run/ debug, As it work fine in simulator mode in IAR workbench IDE

Problem: variables declared with unsigned char Unit8_t not holding the actual value assigned to it.

please let me know whether need to change any settings in IAR or declaration

Hi,
try with "volatile uint8_t" or turn off optimizations (Optimization level -> none)

Hi Veeratej,

could you post your code if not too long? Lubomir is right, sometimes a volatile is missing or the compiler has optimized your code. But there could be other reasons like the lifetime of your variable as well. Would be helpful to have a look at it.

Hi Dennis,
current setup is already with Optimization level --> none and my source code is working model in other compiler and also in IAR workbench( simulator mode). Problem occurs when it changes to FET debugger mode. (sorry to say, can not disclose the code)

Other observation: When declaration is changed from (unsigned char) to (constant unsigned char) in case of constants, It is holding right values.

Can you confirm that the selected target is indeed MSP430FR6989 and not nothing else (e.g. MSP430FR5989)?

Please try one thing - declare the variable before the main so it is a global one. Can you see the content in this case? If so, it might be the lifetime and you are watching at it's content at the wrong moment.

Hi Dennis,
It is not a problem only at one instance and as i told you complete code is an working model in case of other compilers or simulator mode, but the problem exist only while using FET debugger mode.

Have you tried the code in Code Composer Studio? The same code should work in CCS without modifications (almost). Maybe this could help you narrow down the problem ...
