MSP432P401R launch pad Overheating?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ENERGIA

My TI MSP432P401R board is overheating . MSP432 chip and a  chip near the micro usb is getting heated extremely (When i switch on ) .

Kindly Help me in this Regard.

  • Hi Andrew!

I guess you are using the older black MSP-EXP432P401R LaunchPad? If so, the overheating issue is known and is most likely caused by an overvoltage spike that occurs when accidently touching C125 while the board is powered up. You can read about it here:

The new red MSP432 LaunchPad has an improved layout that should prevent this scenario.

  • How can i confirm this ? Is there any way to repair this.
Earlier in a previous post i had mentioned a problem of unable to debug in CCS (e2e.ti.com/.../544407) But i am able to use energia to debug. Are these Overheating and CCS problems linked to one another ?

    Thanks for your Reply
