About the conversion gain and conversion count parameter of CapTIvate

Hi Sir,

I have concern about the conversion gain and count parameter of CapTIvate. I have studied that description on CapTIvate™ Technology Guide and

CapTIvate Design center GUI but I also have confuse its definition.

As the conversion gain and conversion count parameter definition in CapTIvate Design center GUI that said "the conversion gain parameter specifies the desired

number of charge transfers in the conversion before offset subtraction is applied" and "The Conversion Count parameter specifies the desired number of charge transfers in the conversion after offset subtraction has been applied."

as my understanding the offset compensation is relate to the difference between the conversion gain and conversion count and if increase the amount of offset compensation that will increase the sensitivity of system due to that increase the change in capacitance of touch.

1) but how to decide the conversion gain and count? how can I know the conversion gain is the best? for example I can set conversion count = 1000 and conversion gain = 800 so that means the offset compensation is the difference 1000-800=200, and I also can set conversion count = 2000 and conversion gain 1800 and it offset compensation is the same as 200!

2) how dose CapTIvate really work in conversion gain and conversion count?

Is there any one can explain it for me? thank you!

Jerrel
