MSP430FR6989: MSP430FR6989 Launchpad + ESI port

It looks like FLOWESI was designed for the EVM. I did however find another thread where someone has modified TIDesign code for the launchpad. e2e.ti.com/.../483657

Other than that, I dont believe we have any ESI examples developed for the Launchpad, just the EVM and TIDesigns. I will confirm this for you.

As Cameron mentioned in his post, FLOWESI-GUI requires a communication bridge which is only available on the EVM.

However, we have two TI Designs, which uses the MSP-EXP430FR6989 lauchpad.

Hi Ivan and Cameron,

    thanks for your replies. I used the code for the EVM removing the LCD driver and the launchpad works with ESI port. I'm discovering the ESI module and the functionality. The code use the CH0 and CH1 to read the flow, How can I switch the CH0 to CH2 and use the CH1 and CH2 to read the flow? I can't find the code that do this.

Which code are you using, the inductive prox or the inductive linear?

You could use the FlowESI Gui to generate the configurations for the new channels. There is an option to generate only these configs. You could even do a diff in order to see what the differences are between the two. Let me know if you need guidance on how to do this.

   i used the FlowESI but i coudn´t change it. So i'm using CH0 y CH1 like the example with a bridge.

   Now i have a question, i only can read from the rotor when the inductor is very near to it (about 1-2 mm). I read the application report SLAA642 (method to select the value of LC sensor for msp430 ESI) but there is not information about how increase the read distance. Can you help me?

Hi Jose,

There are a few things I want to check with you, cause we don't know which code you are using.

• Does the code set the DAC value manually or the code calibrate the DAC value?(This should in the initialize ESI function)

Cause if you set the DAC value manually and didn't fix the value to your board. It may cause the distance issue.

• If the code calibrate the DAC value, do not forget that you have to round the disk while it's doing the calibration. 

You have to run the calibration first while there is no metal over the inductor, and then when the LCD shows '8888' you should make the metal disk round over the inductor. Then your are getting the right DAC value now. It can work with an almost 10mm distance.

• If the above advises don't help you solving the problem, please send us some photos of your board, your LC senor, the rotor, &the code your are using. The more detailed the better. Thanks!

   I send you all the project´s files but not response. I did some changes but no reach more than 3-4mm distances between coil and rotor. Now i'm trying with a renesas development kit.
