CCS/MSP430G2553: Scalar Graphs - cannot set a min or Max value, so Series range continues to change

I have added a number of Scalar Graphs to the GUI screen I have developed - and data is plotting quite nicely. The issue I am having is that I cannot fix the scale to have a min and max value. I am wanting the graph to show say between 0 and 8, but if the values received always float around 7 to 7.5, then the min and max are also scaled to around those values. Is there a way to pre-define the min and max? On the control, it has series_0_min and series_0_max, but when I populate these values, it does not fix the scale for that control. Could you please advise?

Hi Timothy,

You need to set the fixedScale property to true in order for the min and max settings to take effect. Unfortunately it appears there is a bug that is preventing this property from being displayed in the property view when the scalar graph is selected. I've filed a bug report to get this fixed.

To work around this, you can edit the 'gist' of the project by clicking on the < > button in the toolbar. This will open up the editor.

Scroll down until you find <ti-widget-scalargraph id="ti_widget_scalargraph"

and then type in fixed-scale (no quotes, a space before and after) after the <ti-widget-scalargraph. e.g.

<ti-widget-scalargraph fixed-scale id="ti_widget_scalargraph" num-channels="1" ....

This is equivalent to setting the fixedScale property to true in the designer's property editor.

Then save the changes (click on the disk icon) and close the editor by clicking on the X in the upper right corner. When you run your project you should see the min and max values you set take effect.

Hi Cameron,

Thanks for your message. Unfortunately, I updated my design to use the MSP430FR5738 MCU after which I am now told the GUI Composer does not connect to this MCU (or more specifically the TI Cloud Agent) - so I cannot test what Brian has suggested. This is quite a painful experience since I have a deadline coming up and now no way of visualizing the output from my design. Brian mentioned this MCU will be supported in the next release, so I am waiting to hear when that might be.

Hi Timothy,

Just checking - you mentioned the "MSP430FR5738" in your email above - did you mean the MSP430FR5739? If so, you should be able to use the workaround I provided on dev.ti.com/gc now. If you really did mean the MSP430FR5738, please let me know - there's another way to work around this.

I am developing using the MSP430FR5739 Launchpad, but my end product is using the MSP430FR5738, so if you could advise the work around for this?
