MSP430G2533: Flash bit is changed from 0 to 1

My customer finds there are some MSP430G2533 boards which flash bits are changed from 0 to 1 after running in actual environment for a time. There is strong electromagnetic around.

As it shows in below picture, compare with the right good board, some bits of the abnormal board have been changed from 0 to 1.

We make sure download programming is OK with verification enabled, every board has been tested before shipping out.

Could you let me know what's condition can cause this change? Thanks a lot!

Does your application ever write to flash?

Are these electromagentic disturbances able to make VCC go above or below the recommended operating conditions?

It hasn't flash writing operating. Only has flash read.

Flash is locked by default, is your customer resetting this bit intentionally? I do not think this will improve the situation as electromagnetic field presence can affect flash endurance. Does the customer monitor the ACCVIFG? FRAM devices have Error Correction Coding (ECC) for detecting and fixing or reporting faulty bits, this is used for some applications with heavy electromagnetic influence.

What is the tolerable maximum electromagnetic interference?
Or in other words, are there any good ways to shield from electromagnetic interference? We can do some test to verify the improvement. Thanks.

Daniel,

TI does not provide a specification for EMI allowance or have any recommended/preferred methods of shielding. You can find several common practices online. This question might be better addressed by the Hi-Rel team.
