MSP432P401R: Error after MSP432 Launchpad (Black PCB) self update the firmware upon loading the program in Energia

Part Number: MSP432P401R

MSP432 Error.rtf

Hi all,

My MSP432 Launchpad (Black PCB) cannot select the Launchpad EMT (48MHz) on Energia after it the programming firmware updates itself.

I can compile and load the program using the RED Launchpad Board selected on the Board Manager. But the program cannot run even the Blink example.

It appears to be it is freezing and the LED does not blink. The attachment is the error upon selecting the Launchpad MSP432 EMT(48MHz) and not the RED Launchpad.

What I did is to revert all the previous board definitions and try loading the Blink program and no luck to make it work.

When I load the older version of Energia, it reupdates again the firmware program for the programmer and loads the Blink program and it works.

Does anyone have an idea how to use the Black MSP432 Launchpad on the lastest version of Energia or what causes this problem?

Thanks in advanced,

Leo B. Pestañas

  • Hi Leo,

The problems that you are experiencing are related to the differences between Revision B and Revision C. Please take a look at this wiki: processors.wiki.ti.com/.../XMS432_Support

Having said that, I would recommend you to stay on the older Energia version. BTW which version of Energia is the one you are using?

    Best regards,

    David
  • Hi Mr. DavidL,

The Old Energia Version is Energia-0101E0017 and the latest is Energia-1.6.10E18.
So this means that once they upgraded the version, the silicon version of the actual MSP432 will be the culprit.
Not unless they make a "backward-compatible" patch of Energia version.
I will do as you say until a solution will be made in the future.

    Thanks and Good Day,
    Leo
