MSP430F5172: Timer D in the MSP430F5x family

I am interested in the Timer_D high resolution timer with captures.

Does this timer only exist in the MSP430F5x family?

I would like a larger (more flash and ram) microcontroller with the Timer_D

What is the longevity of the MSP430F5x with its timer D

I am embarking on a project that will consume about 40-50K of these a year and want to make sure it is staying around.

Is this the only method of discussing this?

    The MSP430F51xx devices are the only family with a Timer_D peripheral, of these the MSP430F5172 has the most memory at 32 KB. There are no plans in the roadmap for future devices to include Timer_D. Like the legacy devices, the MSP430F51xx will remain active with no plans of being discontinued for many years.
