MSP-EXP432P401R: Does the XDS110 Debug Probe work with Atollic TrueSTUDIO v8.1.0?

Hello Everyone.

Does the XDS110 Debug Probe work with Atollic TrueSTUDIO v8.1.0?

In Keil uVision 5, this debugger shows up as a "TI XDS Debug Probe".

This XDS110 debug probe is on-board the TI MSP-EXP432P401R development board that I would like to get to work with Atollic TrueSTUDIO v8.1.0.

Hi Joe,

I do not think it is supported and the Generic Debug Probe does not seem to work on my side. I'm looping in the Tools Team as they would have the most expertise regarding this question.

Joe,

Based on their device support page, it looks to me they support FTDI-based Debug Probes only (all their evaluation boards have either the ICDI or the XDS100v2).

Given the XDS110 supports the ARM CMSIS standard, you may try to configure your tool for this setup.

Apart from this, at this moment I am not aware of any engagement with them to materialize a built-in support.

Joe,

DavidL pointed me that Atollic does not have a direct CMSIS interface (I should have clarified my lack of knowledge about Atollic).

However, OpenOCD uses the CMSIS interface of XDS110 and therefore would be suitable for this.

Hi Joe,

Thanks to this post from Rafael, I got it to work.

1. Please download OpenOCD from here: gnutoolchains.com/.../

2. Download this file ti_msp-exp432p401r_xds110.cfg into your openocd/scripts/board

3. This is a screenshot of my Debug Configurations

4. Also make sure to modify the Debug Hardware Preferences and update the OpenOCD paths

FYI I'm getting a keep_alive warning that we might need to correct.

Note:

If you get this Error message in Atollic:
"Error: unable to find CMSIS-DAP device"
Then, you may need to install the USB drivers.

Run this program to install the drivers:
".....\OpenOCD-20170821\drivers\UsbDriverTool.exe"
