MSP430FR2633: Calibration function for the metal touch solution on MSP430FR2633

Guru 16800 points
Part Number: MSP430FR2633

Hello,

Please let me know whether MSP430FR2633 have the calibration function for the metal touch solution.
If the metal surface is distorted by a strong power, in case of metal touch solution, the captivate may cause the failure detection.
So, I think the calibration is needed every detection or power-on reset.
Do you have these functions?

Nomo

  • Hello Nomo,
many thanks for your inquiry. There are multiple comments to make on the topic you've raised.
Please let me start with useful documentation.
The basic one would be the Technology Reference Guide for CapTIvate software-dl.ti.com/.../index.html
In this document you can find a lot of information about the implementation of calibration with CapTIvate.
The other document, which should be of interest for you is a dedicated application report on capacitive touch interface with metal overlay www.ti.com/.../slaa811a.pdf
In this document you will find information also related to the point you raised, means on noise immunity and protection against it.
As stated the Technology Guide will give you more details about calibration, but as a short and initial answer on this topic, the default procedure in the Code, generated by the CapTIvate Design Center is to calibrate on one hand on every power on reset the touch interface, and on the other hand to re-calibrate during operation, if enabled in regular intervals.

    Best regards
