CCS/MSP430F148: The Debug Interface to the device has been secured

Part Number: MSP430F148
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP-FET, STRIKE

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

The prototypes were working quite well.  Stopped for a couiple of weeks to develop a PC program to test all the command to the unit.

When I went back to run both the CCS (Ver8) for the project and my PC program, I suddenly had the error "The Debug Interface to the device has been secured."  (Never had seen this before!!)  I can assure you I did not intentionally blow any fuses (I'm not even sure I know how without looking it up). Went to a second unit which had been working perfectly and had the same error trying to go do Debug.

This is like hitting a brick wall at 30 mph face first!!!  I need help!!  What do I do???   BSLDEMO2.exe.  But I am not certain what to do with it!!

SO HELP PLEASE!!

regards bob scott

  • Hi Bob,

in case the fuse really is blown the only option would be to program the flash memory via the BSL.
As you indicated that you don't think the fuse is blown, let's first focus on other possible reasons.
Can you test your setup with any other devices, such as the MSP-FET? Besides, the error could also be related to an issue in the hardware connections between the FET and target. Could you check if this is the case? Please also check the MSP-FET drivers.
Let me know what your results are.

    Thanks and best regards,
    Britta
  • Dear Britta

You nailed it.  The Reset line was loose at the connector to the target.  Fixed and now all working fine.

Sorry to be so long in responding. TT internet is dpwm om the Dallas area due to a lightning strike caused fire in their data center.  Be a while getting it back.  i am sending this using cell phone connection to the internet.

Many, many thanks for your help.

    Regards  Bob Scott

  • Hi Bob,

I'm glad this was fixed so fast! Good to hear that you can now go on working on the project.
    Best regards,
    Britta
