MSP432P401R: Using the Flash Information Memory to store a code trace.

I would like to use the MSP432P401R "Flash Information Memory" to store code trace data.

Section 6.4.1.2 of the MSP432P401R Data Sheet (document number SLAS826G-MARCH 2015-Revised September 2017) implies there are two 4kB sectors up for grabs, but it's a procedure to write to them- so what is that procedure?

I'm guessing I would put 16 bytes into a buffer (called what or located where?), then pulse the required number of times as indicated in the "Flash Information Descriptor" (reference sectipns 4.9.3.3 the MSP432Pxx Technical Reference Manual, document number SLAU356H-MARCH 2015- Revised December 2017). Is that the general idea?

Or perhaps someone can point me to an API that does this.

You can find documentation on the Flash information memory in the MSP432P4 Technical Reference Manual (SLAU356) in section 9 (MSP432P401R/M) and section 10 (MSP432P4x11/Y/V).

There is a post that explains more about how to go about writing to the information memory. Please refer to it HERE. This should enable you to get started.

Quoting from the MSP423 Peripheral Driver Library USERS GUIDE (rev 4.10.00.42): "Section 9.1 Module Operation
Note that this module is for use exclusively on the MSP432P4111. If using the MSP432P401,
please refer to the non-a variant."

And where do I find that information? It apparently is not in this document.

Just to document this better, in the MSP432 Driver Library Users guide :

Section 8 covers FlashCtl operations on the MSP432P401R (/M).

Section 9 covers FlashCtl_A operations on the MSP432P4111 (/Y/V).

The E2E post referenced in my prior post shows how to program to Information memory (the APIs are largely the same except for adding a "_A" to the API name. See the User's Guide for more details on that.

Hopefully that shortens your trip down the rabbit hole :)
