MSP430FR4133: external loopback example not working

Hi. I tried using the external loopback example from http://dev.ti.com/tirex/#/?link=Software%2FMSP430Ware%2FDevelopment%20Tools%2FMSP-EXP430FR4133%2FPeripheral%20Examples%2FDriver%20Library%2FExample%20Projects%2FEUSCI_A_UART%2Feusci_a_uart_ex1_loopbackAdvanced, but I don't see anything on my serial monitor. I set it up like the below image. I have all the jumpers on the launchpad in their default positions too. How can I get this working?

Hi Jack,

This example code is showing the UART loop back function, that the UCA0TXD is connected to UCA0RXD. Why are you using the serial monitor?

1. Do you have a sample program that can output to the serial monitor?
2. I also set a breakpoint on "RXData = EUSCI_A_UART_receiveData(EUSCI_A0_BASE);", but it is never hit. So I don't think UCA0RXD is receiving anything. How could I fix this? (I tried the solution from e2e.ti.com/.../545377, but it didn't work)
